At 11:30 a.m. on January 27, 2014, the 4th Annual Board Meeting of CIUD was held in the Conference Meeting Room at UD. The Board Meeting was hosted by Prof. Dr. Eesa Bastaki, President of UD. The Vice President of Ningxia Unversity, Prof. Dr. Xie Yingzhong attended.
First of all, Dr. Eesa welcomed Dr. Xie and his colleagues to pay a formal visit to UD, and he stressed that he would, as the President of UD, spare no effort to support the growth and development of CIUD, and to promote and strengthen the close cooperation between UD and NU. During the board meeting, both sides reviewed minutes of a special session of CIUD in 2013 according to the agenda. Five Board members were elected as follows: Dr.Essa, Chairperson, He Jianguo, President of Ningxia University, Vice Chairperson, and Dr. Xie Yingzhong, Dr.Rao and Prof. Ma Jun as Board members. The new Board discussed and approved the annual financial report and the performance report of CIUD in 2013. According to the Board regulations, the new Board designated Prof. Ma Jun as Chinese director of CIUD. Finally, they considered and approved the CIUD work plan and the key tasks for the 2013-2014 academic year, after minor modifications.
During the meeting, Dr. Xie emphasized, on behalf of NU, long-term cooperation between NU and UD. He also expanded upon his views regarding the exchange of visiting faculty members, students from NU, and mutual recognition of credits and exemptions. There were as well in-depth discussions concerning specific details of cooperation between the two institutions.
Talks proceeded in a friendly and relaxed manner as Dr. Xie said that both sides must implement cooperative projects to promote mutual trust between NU and UD, broaden the awareness of this cooperation, actively create opportunities for cooperation, fully explore ways to expand the role of CIUD, and jointly promote the internationalization of the two universities.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Xie kindly invited President Dr. Eesa to visit China, and Hanban, Confucius Institute Headquarters, and Ningxia University at his earliest convenience. Zhou Zhen, Chief Officer of the International Cooperation Office of Ningxia University, CIUD Chinese Director Prof. Ma Jun, Zhang Qianjin, Dean of the Arab Institute of Ningxia University, Chinese teachers Zhang Jichao, Yang Xiaoli at CIUD and Ma Yongliang, a teacher at the Arab Institute of Ningxia University, attended the meeting.
